How to Apply for a Provisional Driving License

This service allows Rwandan citizens who passed the Provisional Driving Test to apply for their provisional driving license. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP). 

The processing time of this service is 14 days and its price is Rwf 10,000. 

Prerequisites: 

  • Applicants with or without an account can apply for this service.

  • Applicants should have passed the provisional driving test and given a registration code.

  • Applicants must be 18 years old or above.

  • The provisional license expires after 2 years from the date the test results are issued but is renewed after 1 year.

  • Applicants should have a valid phone number, email address, or both. 

 

Follow these simple steps to apply for a provisional driving license:

  1. Visit Irembo platformwww.irembo.gov.rw and under Police, click on Application for Driving License.   

  1. Select “Application for Provisional Driving License.”  

  1. Enter your Registration CodeCollection District, and Pick up Station. The applicant information is displayed including their marks.

  2. Click Next to proceed. 

  1. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit

  2. A billing Number/ID (88…) will be generated for payment, Click Pay

  3. Applicants choose the mode of payment: offline (MTN, Airtel, or BK) or online (Visa or MasterCard). For more information about payment modes, click here


NOTE: After applying and successfully paying via IremboGov, the applicant takes their passport photo photocopy and original National ID to the Traffic Police station and can pick up the physical driving license 14 days after submitting these documents.
