FAQs about Registration for Provisional Driving Test

This e-service allows users to register for Provisional Driving Tests and submit the application to Rwanda National Police (RNP). The purpose of the theory test is to test the person's knowledge of the rules and regulations of the road, traffic signs, and signals. Applicants can choose to take the test in one of the 3 languages available; Kinyarwanda, English, or French. They can also choose among the two test modes; computer-based or paper-based.

  1. How much do I pay for registering for a Provisional Driving Test?

The service costs Rwf 5,000.

  1. Do I need an IremboGov account to register for a Provisional Driving Test?

You can apply for this service with or without an Irembo account. 

  1. How do I create an Irembo account?

  1. Can I Apply for a Provisional Driving Test on USSD?

No, the Provisional Driving Test can only be applied for via the Irembo website www.irembo.gov.rw

  1. What are the requirements needed to register for a Provisional Driving Test?

The applicant should have a Rwandan National ID, a valid phone number, an email address, and a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate. Passports and certificates of national ID replacements are not eligible identification documents to sit for the provisional driving tests.

  1. What languages are available for the Provisional Driving Test?

The test is available in 3 languages: Kinyarwanda, English, and French.

  1. Why is registration open and closed quickly?

The provisional driving test is now open for registration every day but it is a slot-based service whereby there is a limited number of slots available per day and the first to come is the first to be served. In case the slot of your choice is not found, you can choose another date that has available slots. 

  1. When does the registration for Provisional Driving Test billing number expire?

The billing number expires in 8 hours and the slot is released to other applicants when it is not paid for.

  1. What is next after paying for this service?

You will receive an SMS/Email approving your test date and center for the driving test. 

  1. Can I download another payment receipt for registration for the Provisional Driving Test if the one I had is lost/damaged?

Yes, you can download the payment receipts as many times as possible from the Irembo platform.

  1. I paid for registration for a provisional driving license but I did not receive the registration code. What should I do?
