How to Apply for an E-Provisional Driving License

This service allows Rwandan citizens who passed the Provisional Driving Test to apply for their e-provisional driving license. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP). 

The provisional driving license is an online-generated certificate that can be downloaded as soon as the application has been paid for. The cost of this service is Rwf 10,000

NOTE: Applicants who applied and paid for their provisional driving license before the launch of the e-license but did not pick up the physical license should not apply for this service but rather use the application number of the paid application to download their e-provisional from the IremboGov platform.

Prerequisites: 

  • Applicants with or without an account can apply for this service.

  • This service can not be applied for using an agent’s account.

  • Applicants should have passed the provisional driving test and have a registration code.

  • Applicants must be 16 years old or above.

  • The e-provisional license expires 1 year from the date it is download.

  • Applicants should have a valid phone number, email address, or both. 

 

Follow these simple steps to apply for a provisional driving license:

  1. Visit Irembo platformwww.irembo.gov.rw and under Police, click on Application for Driving License.   

  1. Select “Application for Provisional Driving License.”  


  1. Enter your Registration Code. The applicant information is displayed including their marks.

  1. Click Next to proceed. 

  1. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit

  2. A billing Number/ID (88…) will be generated for payment, Click Pay

  3. Applicants choose the mode of payment: offline (MTN, Airtel, or BK) or online (Visa or MasterCard). For more information about payment modes, click here


NOTE

  1.  After applying and successfully paying via IremboGov, the applicant can download their e-Provisional Driving License on the IremboGov platform. 

  2. If the applicant chooses to also receive notifications about their application on their email address, once the application is paid for, the e-provisional will be sent to that email address.
