This service allows Rwandan citizens to renew their definitive driving license, which expires 10 years after the date of issuance. Renewal is only allowed at least 14 days before the license's expiration date

The 14-day window allows you to renew your definitive driving license before it expires, ensuring you receive the renewed license within the standard processing time to avoid delays due to expiration and any traffic police penalties for using an old license
The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).
Prerequisites:
Applicants must have a Rwandan national ID.

An applicant must have an expired driving license for it to be renewed.
Follow these simple steps to renew for a definitive driving test:
Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and under Police, click on Renewal of Driving Licenses.
Select; “Renewal of Driving License” and click on Apply.
Enter the Applicant Details (ID number) and Application Details (collection district and pickup station).
Click Next to proceed.
Note: You will receive this error message below if you apply with a valid definitive driving license.
Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
A billing number/ID (88….) will be generated. Click pay.

NOTE: After applying and successfully paying via IremboGov, you will receive an SMS/email notifying you when to pick up the new driving license. After 7 days, your driving license will be ready for pickup at the police station you chose while applying.
