This service enables applicants of legal age to request renunciation of Rwandan nationality. However, renunciation is not granted if it may render the applicant a refugee or stateless. The service is provided by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration.
The processing time is 180 days, and the price is Rwf 150,000.
Prerequisites:
Applicants can apply for this service outside their IremboGov account or visit the nearest Irembo agent for assistance.
The applicant should have a Rwandan national ID or a passport number
An applicant should be of the age of maturity.
The applicant should have a valid phone number and an email address.
Follow these simple steps to apply for the “Renunciation of Rwandan Nationality.”
Visit www.irembo.gov.rw, and under Immigration and Emigration, select “Renunciation of Rwandan Nationality.”
Click on Apply.
Fill in the identification, travel, and residence details by clicking in the blank space to input the required details (*: means mandatory information).
Attach all the required documents in the right format and size, and click Next to proceed.
Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
A billing number/ID (88…) will be generated for payment; click Pay.

Note: After paying for your application, an applicant receives a notification from the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE) offices for further instructions.
