E-passport application

E-passport application


This service allows Rwandans to apply for the E-Passport to facilitate their travels outside the country. The Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration issues three types of passports: ordinary, service, and a diplomatic passport.


Who can apply?


Only Rwandan citizens apply for this service, either an individual adult or minor.


What is needed to apply?


  • If you are a Rwandan citizen above 16 years you will need your National ID number
  • If you are a Rwandan citizen below 16 years you will need your Citizen Application Number
  • You will need to attach different documents that differ depending on the selected applicant Type and the category.
  • You will need your phone number and email address.

What you need to know:


The processing time is 4 working days.

Prices

  • Ordinary: Adult cost is 100,000 RWF (10 years’ validity) / 75,000 RWF (5 years’ validity) and for a child the cost is 25,000 RWF valid for 2 years this also applies to a 17 years old child.

The 17 years old child applies as an adult but pays 25,000 RWF valid for 5 years.

  • service: Adult / child cost is 15,000 RWF(5 years’ validity)
  • Diplomatic: Adult / child cost is 50,000 RWF (5 years’ validity)

How do I apply for an E-passport?


It’s very simple! Here’s what you need:

  1. Visit Irembo Platform. www.irembo.gov.rw

  1. Click on E-passport application UNDER Immigration and Emigration

  1. click on Apply

  2. Choose Who you are applying for

  You can choose whether you are applying for adult or child.**

  • If you are a Rwandan citizen above 16 years you will use your National ID
  • If you are a Rwandan citizen below 16 years you will use your Citizen Application Number

5.     After filling in the ID number/ Application number, click in the blank space to retrieve the details.


APPLICANTS:


Adult:

·         Fill in your ID number and retrieve details

·         Fill in your profession

·         Fill in Employer and Height (not mandatory)

·         Fill in your other nationality and other nationality passport number if any (not mandatory)

·         Fill in your residence details

·         Fill in your birth location

·         Select the passport type

·         Select the passport validity

·         Select your purpose of travel and the destination country

·         Attach the required attachments with the required format and size


Child:


·       Choose minor category (child living with both parents alive, living with guardians, living with both parents legally married, living with divorced parents and child living with single parent mother/father),

·         Fill in child application number and retrieve details,

·         Fill in guardian ID /passport number retrieve details too,

·         Fill in residence details,

·         Fill in Height (not mandatory),

·         Fill in all the remaining details (passport type, passport validity, issued date, purpose of travel and destination country),

6. Attach all the attachments with the required format and size,

7. Click on next, fill in your phone number/email and submit

8. You will receive a billing number (990…………) and Pay.

PLUS sign on it , go to the folder where you saved your document click on it and click on open. It will be uploaded




Adult

Child


Living with both parents (legally married)

  • Copy of national ID of both parents (PDF, 500KB)
  • Application letter signed by the parents (PDF, 500KB)
  • Marriage certificate (PDF, 500KB)

  • Birth certificate (PDF, 500KB)
  • Child passport photo (JPG, size: 500KB)


Living with guardians (Orphans)

  • Copy of national ID /passport of the guardian (PDF, 500KB)
  • Application letter signed by the Guardian (PDF, 500KB)
  • Death certificate of the deceased parents (PDF, 500KB)
  • Copy of guardianship (PDF, 500KB)
  • Recommendation from NCC (PDF, 500KB)

    • Signature (write names of child) (PDF, 50KB)
  • Birth certificate (PDF, 500KB)
  • Child passport photo (JPG, size: 500KB)


Living with guardians (parents alive)

  • Copy of national ID /passport of the guardian (PDF, 500KB)
  • Application letter signed by the Guardian (PDF, 500KB)

  • Notarized power of attorney signed by parents (PDF, 500KB)
  • Recommendation from NCC (PDF, 500KB)

Living with divorced parents

  • Copy of national ID (PDF, 500KB)

Living with a single parent (case of death)

After you apply: After having successfully paid via IremboGov, the Applicant waits for a feedback notification from the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration about when to come and provide bio-metric details.
