How to Request to ​Add or Remove spouse in land register

This service enables a land owner to add or remove his/ her spouse on the land title. This services is provided by the National Land Authority (NLA).


The processing time is 13 working days, and the service is free of charge.


Prerequisites:

  • Applicants without an account cannot apply for this service.

  • Your marital status should be married if you select add the spouse to the land title.

  • Your marital status should be Widow / Widower divorced if you select to remove the spouse from the land title.

  • Applicants should have their phone number or email address.

Conditional attachments

  • Death certificate of the deceased spouse

  • Widow certificate

  • Any document proving that you were married to the deceased

  • Marriage record

  • Final Court decision

  • A report of judgment execution or a notarized agreement on property sharing between spouses

  • Copy of passport

  • Marriage certificate


Follow these simple steps to learn how you can Add or Remove spouse in land register

  1. Visit the Irembo platform at www.irembo.gov.rw  and log into your account.


  1. A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.


  1. Under “Land”, click on Add or Remove spouse in land register. 


  1. Click “Apply”.


  1. Select if you want to “add or “Remove” the landowner

  1. Enter your Parcel UPI and applicant information as prompted.


  • Once you select to add the landowner, enter their information and address. 

  • Once you select to remove the landowner, and when you were married and reason for removal.


  1. Upload the requested information and click Next.



  1. Verify that the provided information is accurate, enter a phone number and email address, check the verification box, and click "Submit.”.

  2. An application number will be generated (B2…) so you can track the status of your application.


Note:

  • Once the National Land Authority receives and approves your application, you will receive a notification to download your updated E-title.
