Certificate of succession
The Certificate of Succession is given to Rwandan citizens that had succeeded a deceased member of the family. It is processed by the sector in which the deceased resided. Form 7 and Form 29 (for land matters) can be found in the sector.
Who can apply?
Only Rwandan citizens both adults and children can apply for this service.
What is needed to apply?
-You will need national ID number/ application number
-You will need the Record of proceedings of the family meeting
-You will need your phone number
-You will need your email address
What you need to know:
The processing time is 3 working days and the service is free of charge.
How to apply for a certificate of succession?
How do I apply for a certificate of succession on Irembo?
1.Visit Irembo Platform irembo.gov.rw
- Sign in into your Irembo account
- Click on certificate of succession UNDER Family
- Choose Who you are applying for (self or child) and click on Apply
You can choose whether you are applying for adult(self) or child.
- If you are a Rwandan citizen above 16 years you will use your National ID
- If you are a Rwandan citizen below 16 years you will use your Citizen Application Number
- Fill in the ID number/ Application number.
After filling in the ID number/ Application number, the applicant details will be retrieved and displayed at the right corner of your page.
Fill in Deceased nationality
Fill in Deceased ID number
Fill in date of death
Fill in cause of death
Fill in relationship with the applicant
Fill in processing district and sector office
Fill in reason for request
Attach all the Record of proceedings of the family meeting with the required format and size
You will receive an application number (B20...…..)
Attachments: To upload all the below attachment, you click on the blue button with a PLUS sign in it , go to the folder where you saved your document click on it and click on open. It will be uploaded

After you apply:
After you apply you will receive an application number and when your application is approved you go to the selected sector office to collect it. It is not an e-certificate.
