This article includes services that enable applicants to apply for three types of driving licenses found in Rwanda. The three driving licenses are provisional, definitive, and category upgrade. Rwandan citizens who have passed the driving tests can apply for their respective driving licenses.

How to Apply for a Provisional Driving License
This service allows Rwanda citizens who passed the provisional driving test to apply for their provisional driving license. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).
The processing time of this service is 14 days and its price is Rwf 10,000.
Prerequisites:
Applicants eligible for this service should be 16 years and above, but the provisional license can be retrieved at 18 years.
- Applicants should have passed the provisional driving test and given a registration code.
The provisional license expires after 2 years but is renewed after 1 year.
Follow these simple steps to apply for a provisional driving license:
1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and under Police, click on Application for Driving License.
2. Select which service you want; “Application for Provisional Driving License” and click on Apply.
3. Enter the Application Details. The applicant information is displayed including their marks.
4. Click Next to proceed.
5. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
6. A billing number/ID (99….) will be generated for payment. Applicants can pay using MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, BK App, BK Branches, BK Agents, or pay online using VISA or MasterCard.
How to Apply for a Definitive Driving License
This service allows Rwanda citizens who passed the definitive driving test to apply for their definitive driving license. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).
The processing time of this service is 14 days and its price is Rwf 50,000.
Prerequisites:
Applicants eligible for this service should be 18 years and above.
Applicants should have passed the definitive driving test and given a registration code.
The definitive license expires and is renewed after 10 years.
Follow these simple steps to apply for a definitive driving license:
1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and under Police, click on Application for Driving License.
2. Select which service you want; “Application for Definitive Driving License" and click on Apply.
3. Enter the Application Details. The applicant information is displayed including their marks.
4. Click Next to proceed.
5. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.

This service allows Rwanda citizens who passed the supplementary practical driving test to request a supplementary driving license. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).
The processing time of this service is 14 days and its price is Rwf 10,000.
Prerequisites:
Applicants eligible for this service should be 18 years and above.
Applicants should have passed the supplementary driving test and given a registration code.
Follow these simple steps to apply for a category update license:
1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and under Police, click on Application for Driving License.
2. Select which service you want; “Application for Category Update" and click on Apply.
3. Enter the Application Details. The applicant information is displayed including their marks.
4. Click Next to proceed.
5. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
6. A billing number/ID (99….) will be generated for payment. Applicants can pay using MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, BK App, BK Branches, BK Agents, or pay online using VISA or MasterCard.
NOTE: After applying and paying successfully via IremboGov, the Applicant receives an SMS/Email notifying them that the driving license is ready for pickup at the Traffic Police office.
