How much do I pay for a certificate of succession?

The service is free of charge.

Do I need an IremboGov account to apply for a certificate of succession?

Yes, you should have an Irembo account to apply for it or visit the nearest Irembo agent with the deceased’s ID number for assistance.

How do I create an Irembo account?

To create an Irembo account, click here.

What are the requirements to apply for a certificate of succession?

You should have the deceased’s national ID (if the death happened after the new national ID issuance, you must have their national ID. The national ID is not a must if the death happened before the new national ID issuance), death information, and a valid phone number, email address, or both.

Do I need to pick up my certificate of succession from the sector I chose during the application process? 

Yes, after processing, the certificate of succession is physically picked up at the sector chosen in the application process. 

What is the validity of the certificate of succession?

The certificate of succession has lifetime validity.

What is the processing time of a certificate of succession?

The processing time is 1 working day.

Can I submit the Certificate of succession application to any sector?

You should submit it to the sector where the deceased resided.


Certificate of Residence


How much do I pay for a certificate of residence?

You will pay Rwf 1,500. 

Do I need an IremboGov account to apply for a certificate of residence?

Yes, you should have an Irembo account to apply for it, visit the nearest Irembo agent for assistance, or contact us at support@irembo.com.

What are the requirements to apply for a certificate of residence?

You should have your personal identification (National ID or Child Application Number for Rwandans and Passport details for foreigners) and a valid phone number, email address, or both.

Do I need to pick up my certificate of residence from the sector I chose during the application process? 

No, the certificate of residence is an E-certificate. You can download it on IremboGov using the application number or billing number. 

What is the processing time for a certificate of residence?

The processing time is 1 working day.

What is the validity of the certificate of residence?

The certificate of residence has lifetime validity

How do I know the authenticity of the certificate of residence generated via IremboGov?

Can I download another certificate of residence if the one I had is lost/damaged?

Yes, you can download the certificate as many times as possible.

Can I submit a certificate of residence application to any sector?

It is advisable to submit the application to the sector where you reside/resided.


Certificate of Divorce


How much do I pay for a certificate of divorce?

You will pay Rwf 1,500. 

Do I need an IremboGov account to apply for a certificate of divorce?

Yes, you should have an Irembo account to apply for it or visit the nearest Irembo agent for assistance.

What are the requirements to apply for a certificate of divorce on IremboGov?

You should have identification details and a valid phone number, email address, or both.

Can I submit my certificate of divorce application to any sector?

It is advisable to submit the application to the sector where your divorce is recorded.

No, The certificate of divorce is an E-certificate. You can download it on IremboGov using the application number or billing number.

What is the processing time of a certificate of divorce?

The processing time is 1 working day.

The certificate of divorce has a lifetime validity until you change your civil status.

Certificate of Being Alive


How much do I pay for a certificate of being alive?

It depends on the case.

Do I need an IremboGov account to apply for a certificate of being alive?

You should have an Irembo account to apply for it or visit the nearest Irembo agent for assistance.

I am a foreigner with a passport living in Rwanda. Can I apply for a certificate of being alive? 

No, you cannot apply for the service.

Can a refugee or foreigner with a Rwandan ID apply for a certificate of being alive? 

Yes, they are eligible for the service. 

Am I eligible to choose any preferred sector as the processing office for a certificate of being alive? 

It is advisable to choose your place of residence as the processing office.

How much do I pay for a Certificate of widow/widower?

You will pay Rwf 1,500.

Yes, you can submit the application to any preferred sector. 

What is the validity of the certificate of widow/widower?

The certificate of widow/widower has a lifetime validity until your civil status changes.

I am a Foreigner with a passport married to a Rwandan, can I apply for a certificate of cohabitation? 

No, you cannot apply for the service; however, your Rwandan spouse can apply on your behalf.

Can a refugee or foreigner with a Rwandan ID apply for a certificate of cohabitation? 

Yes, they are eligible for the service. 

Can I submit the certificate of cohabitation application to any sector? 

It is advisable to  submit the application to the sector where your marriage is registered.

What is the validity of the certificate of cohabitation?

The certificate of cohabitation has a lifetime validity until your civil status changes. 

How do I know the authenticity of the certificate of cohabitation generated via IremboGov?

Guardianship Record


How much do I pay for a guardianship record?

The price is Rwf 2,000.

Yes, you should have an Irembo account to apply for it or visit the nearest Irembo agent for assistance.

Where do I get the child application number?

You will contact the sector office where you reside to provide the child application number or register the child in the national population registry. 

I am a foreigner/refugee with a passport. Can I apply for a guardianship record? 

Yes, you can apply for the service.

Can a refugee or foreigner with a Rwandan ID apply for a guardianship record? 

Yes, they are eligible for the service. 

Can I submit the guardianship record application to any sector? 

No, you only submit the application to the sector where the child is registered.

What is the validity of the guardianship record?

The Guardianship record has lifetime validity.

How do I know the authenticity of the guardianship record generated via IremboGov?

Adoption Record


How much do I pay for an adoption Record?

The price is Rwf 2,000.

Yes, you should have an Irembo account to apply for it, or visit the nearest Irembo agent for assistance.

Where do I get the child application number?

You will contact the sector office where you reside to provide the child application number or register the child in the national population registry.

Yes, you can apply for this service.

Can a refugee or foreigner with a Rwandan ID apply for an adoption record?

Yes, they are eligible for the service. 

Can I submit the adoption record application to any sector? 

No, you only submit the application to the sector where the child is registered.

What is the validity of the adoption record?

The adoption record has lifetime validity.

The service is free.

Is the Certificate of Genocide Survivors an E-certificate?

No, you will visit the selected sector’s office with supporting documents from the cell.


Certificate of Being Single 


How much do I pay for a Certificate of Being Single?

The price is Rwf 500.

The Certificate of Being Single has a lifetime validity until your civil status changes to Married.
